Have you always wanted to learn to adorn your fabrics with beautiful embroidery but don’t know where to start? Well, my stitch-curious friends, this course is for you! The word embroidery comes from the French word broderie, meaning embellishment. In various forms, embroidery has existed since the production of fabric! In this Embroidery Basics workshop we will work on stitching a small zippered pouch (that you can use for all of your embroidery supplies;)! Through the process of stitching your pouch, you will be creating a custom stitch-sampler.
In this workshop, you will learn how to properly thread embroidery needles, all about the essential tools of embroidery from snips to hoops, types of embroidery floss and their functions, how to select your fabrics and stretch them onto your embroidery hoop, how to transfer patterns and designs onto your fabric, and of course how to embroider some really cool stitches: chain stitch, backstitch, stem stitch, french knots and more!
Skills + Materials
This a beginner course and no previous experience is needed! The workshop fee includes all supplies needed for the workshop; a blank zippered pouch, hoop, thread, needles, marking pens, and more! You will be able to bring your supplies home to continue your project and carry on the skills you will learn in this workshop.
