About this experience

Explore the creation of tapestry weaving from start to finish! Learn to create patterns, select a color palette, and the basic weaving stitching techniques needed to create a wall tapestry all your own! In this class you will learn about materials, tools, warping, basic designing and weaving techniques, finishing, and care.

We are offering 2 separate 2.5-hour session for this beginner class. Please chose one session from the drop-down calendar.

Price includes thoughtfully sourced materials (no additional materials fees). You will leave the class with your own little frame loom and tools to get you started. Students also get 15% off in the shop while they are workshop students (for multi-session/week workshops this discount applies to the entire duration of workshop).

All classes meet at our shop at 606 Carpenter Lane, Philadelphia PA 19119 - in the heart of Mt. Airy Village. There is plenty of free on-street parking as well as High Point Cafe and Weaver's Way Co-op steps away for your food and beverage needs. Kiddos are always welcome to hang in the shop!

MELONIE CAVALLARO is a fiber artist in South Philadelphia. Having studied fine art and art history in Italy, her fiber art combines her approach to classic oil painting and her passion for travel and world culture; combining global textures, form, and color into one medium. After the birth of her son in 2015, Melonie began transitioning from oil painting to textiles and quickly found this new tangible medium to be her most expressive. Melonie has exhibited her artwork in galleries throughout the US, Europe and the UK, such as: Gallery Café Art Bar, Florence, Italy; Eubie Blake National Jazz institute and Cultural Center, The Galleries at Moore; and Philadelphia's own Chris’s Jazz Cafe.
