In this continued introduction to tapestry weaving we will dive into reading and creating pattern drafts with the simplest of pattern sequences, Twill! Twill is used to create various designs with diagonal weaving that results in diamond motifs. Students will explore elevating their weaving skills by creating their own twill designs, as well as learning to read and weave based off pre-designed pattern drafts. Melonie will cover different weft techniques, such as supplementary wefts, to allow designs to pop, as well as selecting yarn, color compositions, and texture. This workshop is a continuation class from the beginner Tapestry Weaving and is perfect for beginner+ and intermediate weavers alike.
Skills + Materials
This is a beginner+/intermediate workshop and some weaving knowledge is needed to have a fun, productive time. Students will bring-their-own looms (anything similar to this is great). All looms should come warped and ready to weave on. Any size frame loom is a-ok - Melonie will demonstrate on a 13" x 10" loom. There will be no warping instructions in this class. However, a warping video can be provided should you need some assistance in preparation! The workshop fee includes lots of weft yarns to weave and tinker with.

Cancelation + Make-up Policy
We absolutely understand that things come up and you may need to cancel your registration. We've done our best to create a cancellation policy that honors how fickle life can be alongside our financial commitment to our staff and teaching artists. First, you may always transfer your registration to another student (just let us know in advance!). If you need to cancel your registration we are happy to offer a 50% store credit refund for cancellations made two weeks in advance of your workshop date. Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds for cancellations made less than two weeks in advance. We are also unable to offer make-ups or exchanges for missed workshops.
Student Discount
Students get a one-time 10% student discount that is active at the first workshop session and expires two weeks following the final workshop session. When you arrive at your workshop there will be a QR code to scan and provide feedback on your workshop experience. After the short feedback survey the discount code will appear.
