This is an in-person workshop. Join us for a raised embroidery workshop at Wild Hand with local teaching artist Richie Wilde Lopez! Raised embroidery is a textured and dimensional stitch technique to create an embroidered work that is lifted off the fabric! It is a more 3D, graphic style that, once learned, can add a unique and interesting touch to your embroidered art pieces or wearables. This is an intermediate embroidery workshop. While some knowledge of basic embroidery stitches is ideal, it is not essential to the course. However, you will find that what will be covered in the course will be a bit more advanced. In this 3-session workshop we will be covering an array of raised stitches to complete a lettering sampler specific to you!
During this workshop you will learn about the history of raised embroidery as well as review materials, design inspiration, and eventually design, transfer, and stitch your own design to fabric! You will learn the basic techniques for raised embroidery, padding techniques, attaching stitches, raised stitches, and stitches in relief.
This is an intermediate workshop - students will enjoy the workshop most if they have some basic hand embroidery skills. The workshop fee includes all of the supplies you need to participate. You will receive all of your supplies at your workshop session.
In order to create a safe, inclusive learning space we're asking all students, teaching artists, and staff wear masks at all times while they are indoors. We are also asking students and teaching artists to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test (can be at-home, rapid, or PCR) within 2 days of their workshop session.
We absolutely understand that things come up and you may need to cancel your registration.
