About this experience

This introductory class teaches all the necessary techniques and provides all the materials and tools necessary to create your first hooked piece. From wall hangings to home goods, rug hooking can create a large variety of art and functional objects. The punch technique is simple to learn and is suitable for all levels of experience.
Each student will receive an Oxford Punch Needle, foundation cloth, 12” reusable rug hooking hoop, your own selection of rug yarn in an assortment of colors, and an instructional booklet with resource guide for continuing on your own.


This is a beginner level class - no skills required. Price includes thoughtfully sourced materials (no additional materials fees). Students also get 15% off in the shop while they are workshop students (for multi-session/week workshops this discount applies to the entire duration of workshop).

All classes meet at our shop at 606 Carpenter Lane, Philadelphia PA 19119 - in the heart of Mt. Airy Village. There is plenty of free on-street parking as well as High Point Cafe and Weaver's Way Co-op steps away for your food and beverage needs. Kiddos are always welcome to hang in the shop!

ROSE PEARLMAN (@rosepearlman) is an artist, teacher, and textile designer. With a background in fine arts and a love of well designed functional objects, her creations blur the lines between art and craft and pushes the boundaries with non-traditional techniques and materials. Rose teaches monthly rug hooking workshops in and around her home in NYC, and also welcomes commissions for one of a kind constructions in decor and home furnishings. Her work has been featured in fiber magazines, galleries, and numerous online design sites. She lives in Brooklyn, NY with her family.
