Have you always wanted to learn to adorn your fabrics with beautiful embroidery but don’t know where to start? Well, my stitch-curious friends, this course is for you! The word embroidery comes from the French word broderie, meaning embellishment. In various forms, embroidery has existed since the production of fabric! In this workshop we will work on a custom stitch-sampler to cover the essentials and get you stitching like a pro.
When completed you will have a beautiful piece of art to hang on your wall - and you can tell all your friends, “I made that!” You will learn how to properly thread embroidery needles as well as all about the essential tools of embroidery from snips to hoops. We will cover types of embroidery floss and their functions, how to select your fabrics and stretch them onto your embroidery hoop, how to transfer your patterns and designs onto your fabric (in two different ways!), and, of course, how to embroider some really cool stitches, including chain stitch, backstitch, stem stitch, french knots, and more!
Skills + Materials
This is a beginner workshop and no previous experience is needed to participate. Workshop supplies are included in the fee. You will receive everything you need to create your sampler and supplies to take home with you for your next project - 8" hoop, embroidery needle set, fabric, transfer pen & paper, and plenty of thread to bring home!

Cancelation + Make-up Policy
We absolutely understand that things come up and you may need to cancel your registration. We've done our best to create a cancellation policy that honors how fickle life can be alongside our financial commitment to our staff and teaching artists. First, you may always transfer your registration to another student (just let us know in advance!). If you need to cancel your registration we are happy to offer a 50% store credit refund for cancellations made two weeks in advance of your workshop date. Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds for cancellations made less than two weeks in advance. We are also unable to offer make-ups or exchanges for missed workshops.
Student Discount
Students get a one-time 10% student discount that is active at the first workshop session and expires two weeks following the final workshop session. When you arrive at your workshop there will be a QR code to scan and provide feedback on your workshop experience. After the short feedback survey the discount code will appear.
