This is an in-person workshop. There is no experience is necessary to make this sweet and functional yarn or catch-all basket. It is perfectly suited for holding yarn for your project or for storing anything else you might think of (like herbs, veggies, and flowers)! It makes a great gift for a special friend or loved one to use as they please. This basket is approximately 6” tall with the oval top measuring about 10” x 15”. The handles are wire and wood. The basket students will make is the second image - the finished basket carrying a pile of herbs.
In this workshop you will learn how to: weave a basket upside down and flair the sides; weave an over/under pattern; incorporate handles; and lash on a rim. There will be a variety of colored reed to choose from for your pattern. You will not be staining the basket in class, but the instructor will explain to you how it is done. You will receive the basket pattern and multiple handouts regarding basketry. Please note, moderate hand strength is required for this class.
This is a beginner workshop and there are no previous skills required to participate. The workshop fee includes all of the supplies you need to create your basket. You will receive all of your supplies at your workshop session.
