::virtual:: Krokbragd Weaving
This product is currently sold out.
Explore the art of krokbragd (meaning “crooked path”) weaving and incorporate this beautiful, traditional Scandanavian technique into a wall tapestry all your own. This weft heavy style of weaving is a great way to add pattern dynamic color to your work! We will learn the basics of this style, how to compose a tapestry, how to read a pattern draft, and how to create your own pattern draft design using the krokbragd sequencing. Once you have learned the basics of this technique the sky's the limit with designing!
Melonie will be teaching this technique on Funem frame looms that include a rotating heddle bar (this is a larger and different loom than what is used in the ::virtual:: Tapestry Weaving Basics workshop). Also included in the workshop fee is a beautiful wood weaving comb, weaving needles, and shuttles as well as a variety of colors of chunky and bulky wools and cotton for experimenting! In this workshop you will learn oh-so-much including:
+ Selecting materials.
+ Understanding your weaving tools.
+ Working with color in krokbragd.
+ Setting up your loom.
+ Reading a pattern draft.
+ Creating your own pattern draft design using krokbragd sequencing.
+ How to take your piece off the loom.
This is a beyond beginner workshop - no previous experience or equipment required, but the ::virtual:: Tapestry Weaving Basics Workshop (or other beginner frame weaving experience) would be helpful. Workshop registration includes all of the thoughtfully sourced materials that you need to participate and will be available for contactless pick-up or delivery before the workshop start date. We happily ship worldwide and shipping costs are not included in the workshop fee. We will be in touch 2-3 weeks before your workshop begins about arranging to receive your workshop supply bundle. All Wild Hand workshop students also get a one-time 15% discount for use during and up to two weeks following the last class session.
Workshops meet virtually via Zoom - links and passcodes will arrive with your workshop order confirmation (you will receive a confirmation email for your full order and then separately an email with just workshop details).
Cancellation Policy :: We know and understand that schedules change! Wild Hand will happily offer a store credit refund for cancellations made a week or more in advance. For cancellations made less than a week in advance we can offer a 50% store credit refund. We do this so that we can still pay the teaching artist for your spot in the class.
