Rigid Heddle Weaving

This is an in-person workshop. Did you ever wonder how cloth is made? Do you want to try your hand at weaving? If so, this is the perfect class for you! Experience the joy of weaving on a Rigid Heddle loom. The Rigid Heddle is a small, lightweight loom with a single heddle that makes warping and weaving easy. It’s the perfect way to start your weaving journey. Students will begin by learning the technique of warping a Rigid Heddle loom and will progress to the next step of weaving and completing a cowl. A choice fibers will be available in beautiful textures and colors - lots to play with and create a cowl. We will have Rigid Heddle looms for everyone to borrow and work with but you're welcome to bring your own if you have one. This is a beginner workshop and no experience is necessary. The fee includes all of the materials you need for the workshop, including a Rigid Heddle loom to borrow (that you can choose to buy at the end of the course using your student discount if you'd like!).
This is a beginner workshop and there is no previous experience needed to participate. The workshop fee does not include materials. For this workshop you will have access to a loom to borrow (included in your workshop fee) and will need to purchase one cone of yarn for your warp from the below list as well as buy/bring an additional 100-150g of yarn for your weft. Weft yarns can be anything! Feel free to play around with yarn weight (thickness), texture, and color. You can pick one beautiful hank of hand-dyed yarn or brings scraps and leftovers from your stash. If you'd like to buy your materials through Wild Hand we will gladly ship them. If you're local you can stop by the shop or select Local Pick-up at check-out. Below is a list of warp yarn ideas from our shop.

In order to create a safe, inclusive learning space we're asking all students, teaching artists, and staff wear masks at all times while they are indoors. We are also asking students and teaching artists to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test (can be at-home, rapid, or PCR) within 2 days of their workshop session.
We absolutely understand that things come up and you may need to cancel your registration. We've done our best to create a cancellation policy that honors how fickle life can be alongside a commitment to our staff and teaching artists. If you need to cancel your registration we are happy to offer a 50% store credit refund for cancellations made at least two weeks in advance. Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds for cancellations made less than two weeks in advance.
