This traditional wooden darning egg from the folks at Laine Saint-Pierre measures 7cm high with a diameter of roughly 14cm. Darning eggs are oh-so-useful for darning holes in socks or jumpers. The egg holds the hole tight enough for an easy repair job. 

The illustrious Laine Saint-Pierre was originally from Lyon. It was bought out by Maison Vrau in Lille in 1971. It belongs now to Ets Toulemonde, also owners of the Fil Au Chinois brand. The 1847 Collection marks a revival for this product: the cards and packaging were re-designed by Frédérique Crestin-Billet with their original look. The name is a reference to the year the brand Fil Au Chinois was registered New colours were dyed to offer a permanent range, notably for use in traditional embroidery and cross stitch.

The present Maison Sajou was relaunched in 2005 by Frederique CRESTIN-BILLET, following a career in publication where she edited and created numerous illustrated books. Frederique started collecting vintage haberdashery at a very young age, especially colour charts, thread boxes, and the famous little Sajou albums.
